Blaine Gabbert reportedly tore his labrum in his non-throwing (left) shoulder on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. Despite the injury, Gabbert plans to take all of the practice snaps on Wednesday and intends to start against the Green Bay Packers this Sunday at Lambeau Field.
"He's certainly going to give it a try today in practice," Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey told the media at his pre-practice press conference. Mularkey did not however expand on what Gabbert's injury was officially, opting to keep a lid on the specifics.
"I think he'll be able to go with that type of injury," Mularkey said.
Gabbert told the media before practice that he intended to start against the Packers and play all week, which could actually go a long way with critics if things work out. Prior to his injury on Sunday, Gabbert looked like he might finally have that breakout game everyone has been looking for.
Even without the long touchdown pass to Cecil Shorts III, Gabbert looked more willing to go down the field and decisive on his throws. Perhaps the bye week did well in regards to letting him mentally reset, but we won't know for sure until Sunday.
