Two days ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers made what in my mind was a surprising move, and that was waiving rookie NT/DT Alameda Ta'amu. I recall really liking him when he was coming out of Washington just this past year.
As Terrance Knighton is set to hit free agency come season's end, I think that looking to bring in Ta'amu now makes a lot of sense, regardless of the specific direction this defense is headed in the future (switch to a 3-4, stay as a 4-3, etc.). Ta'amu is big and skilled, and could actually improve the DT position on this team.
