Jaguars vs. Texans score update: Jacksonville finding success minus Gabbert, tied 17-17

Al Messerschmidt

At the half, Chad Henne has completed eight-of-11 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns, which leaves him with a 154.4 passer rating.

After Blaine Gabbert left the game early with a right elbow contusion, the Jaguars handed the ball over to Chad Henne with a 7-0 deficit. He responded and led the team to a 17-17 tie after the first two quarters.

While Gabbert has the stronger arm and makes safer decisions that will result in fewer interceptions over the long-term, Henne is seemingly much more willing to take shots down-field. He began that with a 63-yard completion to Justin Blackmon that was shortly followed by a jump ball in the end zone that was caught by Marcedes Lewis for a touchdown.

Henne continued that success on his following drive too, although most of that was due to Cecil Shorts III making players miss on a screen pass that turned into a 67-yard touchdown for the Jaguars.

Although the defense struggled early, giving up an insanely easy 84-yard drive on the first possession of the game that only required five plays, they settled in the remainder of the half and forced three punts from Donnie Jones of the Texans.

At the half, Henne has completed eight-of-11 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns, which leaves him with a 154.4 passer rating. Gabbert is questionable to return, although his return seems very doubtful if Henne continues to play as he did in the first half.
