The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed quarterback Blaine Gabbert on injured reserve following a forearm injury suffered against the Houston Texans. Since Gabbert is going in injured reserve, he will also go ahead and have surgery on his injured left shoulder and get it fixed.
Gabbert ended his second season in the NFL with 1,662 passing yards, 9 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in just 10 games. Gabbert improved somewhat from his very disappointing rookie season in the NFL, but hadn't gotten quite to where he needed to be.
Following up the team's loss to the Houston Texans, Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey noted that Chad Henne was going to start the game against the Tennessee Titans and it was based on a combination of performance and Gabbert's injury.
The Jaguars traded up to select Blaine Gabbert with the 10th overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft, but as it stands right now he has been a massive disappointment and his future with the franchise is in question.
