After a first half that featured both teams squandering scoring opportunities, the Dolphins lead the Jaguars at halftime, 10-3. At the half, the Jaguars have gained 37 yards more than the Dolphins, but have hurt themselves with seven penalties already.

The Jaguars defense did a decent job for the first 20 minutes of the game, including forcing a turnover by Ryan Tannehill to give the offense the ball on Miami's 20-yard line. On the play, Jason Babin wrapped up Tannehill's legs before Russell Allen hit the rookie from behind to force a fumble that was recovered by safety Dawan Landry.

Chad Henne appeared to take advantage of the field position on the subsequent play with a 20-yard touchdown strike to Justin Blackmon up the left sideline, but a penalty on Guy Whimper for not declaring himself as an eligible receiver nullified the score. Four plays later, the Jaguars attempted to convert a fourth and one but came up short on a Henne sneak.

The majority of the second quarter, though, was spent during a 14-play, 89-yard drive that spanned more than half of the quarter and ended with a four-yard touchdown pass from Tannehill to Jorvorskie Lane.
