Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts took a hard shot on Sunday and is in the concussion program.
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts III left the game late Sunday against the New England Patriots after taking a hard shot. After the game, Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey classified Shorts' injury as a "head injury" and confirmed in his press conference on Monday that Shorts is in the concussion program.
Shorts suffered a concussion a few weeks ago and was forced to sit out a game. It's highly likely his 2012 NFL season is done with, even if he passes his concussion tests.
The lone bright spot as a playmaker on the Jaguars offense in 2012, Shorts looked like he was going to crack the 1,000 receiving yards mark for the Jaguars, making him the first player to do so since the 2005 season. If Shorts misses the Jaguars 2012 season finale against the Tennessee Titans, he'll finish just 21 yards shy of 1,000.
So far on the season Shorts has 55 receptions for 979 yards and 7 touchdowns, leading the team in yards and touchdown receptions.
