Hey guys. A lot of people want to see Geno Smith as the new Jaguars' quarterback. I like Geno too. But why has everyone given up on Blaine already? Last season he had literally no offseason to prepare and some really crappy coaches. This year he had an offseason and a good group of coaches and he clearly improved. You can even consider this his rookie season. The new staff might think Geno Smith is a reach at #1 or #2, and elect to take BAP or fill another need. That still leaves Henne and Gabbert. I always liked Gabbert, and still think he can be a good quarterback.
Blaine Gabbert started 10 games, and had 1,662 yards, 9 touchdowns, 6 interceptions, and a 58.3% completion percentage.
Chad Henne started 5 games but played in 9, and has 1,786 yards, 9 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, and a 52.8% completion percentage, with one game left to play.
Clearly Henne has more yards, but he's also turning the ball over more, and is completing less passes. I think that Henne is taking more shots, which is causing more interceptions, and they're the shots that Blaine is scared to take. If Blaine isn't sure about it, he tends to check down. Henne just tries to drill it in, which sometimes is good, but not always. In my opinion, moving forward with a healthy and better O-Line next year and another offseason of development. I think Gabbert is the better option for the Jaguars than Chad Henne.
