The consequences for this team's massive underachievement shouldn't fall on general manager Gene Smith alone.
Jaguars' punt coverage was 'exposed' | jacksonville.com
NASHVILLE — Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey had a short explanation for why the punt coverage team imploded against the Tennessee Titans Sunday. "We had a new bunch of players out there and we got exposed,’’ he said. The number of injuries the Jaguars have had this year finally took its toll as Darius Reynaud returned punts 69 and 81 yards for touchdowns in a span of two minutes and 39 seconds. The first one came with 33 seconds left in the first half and the second one came with 12:54 left in the third quarter and helped the Titans beat the Jaguars 38-20 in the season finale.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Jaguars did something Sunday that is very difficult to do in the NFL. They not only lost to a long-time division rival, they lost by a large margin in a game they dominated statistically from start to finish. But that wasn’t the hardest part. The hardest part? As bizarre as the loss was – as much went wrong in a 38-20 loss to the Tennessee Titans at LP Field in nearly impossible fashion – the loss didn’t seem to matter a whole lot. Not in the big picture, or even in the small.
