Austen Lane Raises Hunger Awareness
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Austen Lane missed most of the 2011 NFL season on injured reserve, but this offseason he's been doing a lot of things off the field. During Super Bowl week, the Jaguars fifth-round pick in the 2010 NFL draft was in indianapolis at Taste of the NFL event called "Party with a Purpose".
Taste of the NFL is an organization dedicated to addressing the needs of the hungry and homeless by raising awareness and money through special events. This year's event was the 21st annual, held the night before the Super Bowl. Each team has a booth featuring their favorite chef and a player for signing autographs.
Hit the jump to see Lane talking about the event, including having an asthma attack when he met US Women's Soccer star Hope Solo and how he was trying to holler at Miss America, who's from his home state of Wisconsin.

Commendable. Good cause.
Now, let’s see him do something on the field, since that’s what he gets paid for.

Maybe O-lineman will get lost in that epic beard...

That beard is serious
I think Kiesel’s is still a little more epic though

Kiesel's beard is gone.
I wish Austen woud raise his own quarterback awareness.
