2012 NFL Mock Draft: Who do the Jaguars take?
It's Monday, so that means it's time for another update on who the Jacksonville Jaguars take on the SB Nation Mock Draft. Last week, Ryan Van Bibber gave the Jaguars defensive end Quinton Coples from North Carolina at the 7th overall pick, but this week he changed it up a bit. Coples falls past the Jaguars to the 9th overall pick with the Miami Dolphins.
So who does Van Bibber have the Jaguars taking now?
7. Jacksonville Jaguars, Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame
This is one giant leap for 2012 NFL draft punditry. Buzz is emanating from the internet, as it is wont to do, that Floyd will surprise people with his Combine workout. A good day on the track inside Lucas Oil Stadium could vault Floyd over Blackmon as the top receiver in this draft class.
I'll state again, I don't think there is a wide receiver who's worth taking in the Top 10 of this year's draft. I'm admittedly not a big fan of Michael Floyd, but speaking with someone who has prompted me to go back and watch some of Floyd's games from the 2009 and 2010 seasons, and I like him a bit more. Not enough to take him with the 7th overall pick, but if the Jaguars could trade down into the mid-teens and still pick up Floyd, I would be OK with that.

Personally, of the receivers in the draft, the only thing close to a sure thing is Wright from Baylor
But given this mock, I see no way Kirkpatrick goes past us if we stay at 7.

I don't think you took me seriously. If you want it unbanned, email an admin. But, for now, your Stampede Blue privileges are done.

Ummmmm……it’s Tuesday! All kidding aside, obviously Mr. Ryan “Justin” Van Bibber does not know that we are going to hire Randall Moss. Even though you may be calender challenged, I have to agree with not wanting to see a 7th pick wasted on these WR’s.
I don't see us going OT
Until maybe the 3rd round or possibly even later. If at all.

Floyd
Really impressed me at the Champs Sports Bowl. He was the entire offense for Notre Dame – him ad their TE at least. But I’m with you, not sure about a top 10 grade. But maybe we trade back and gain some picks if Floyd is who they really want to go after.

Alfie did say, all draft pick "randomly" end up being need picks lol...falls right in line with that mindset.
More-so it seems much less of a risk with the new CBA….now that there’s less money on the table for a #7 pick. It won’t kill a team to make that selection.

Kendall Wright seems legit, but
is a 5’10" and 190lb guy what the Jags need as primary WR. At least the combine will give us a more clear picture of the mocks.

Desean Jackson: 5’10 175
Mike Wallace: 6’0 199
Wes Welker: 5’9 185
Marvin Harrison: 6’0 178
Victor Cruz: 6’0 205
Not saying Wright is going to be any one of these, but assuming everyone but Harrison remains as productive as they do, it would see to me like a “shorter”(seeing as the tallest is still only 6’0) guy could still be a primary WR in an offense.

Absent for too long.
Ive been out, but I’m back. I’m going to try to get back into commenting a lot more and of course looking forward to the BCC draft this year.
I’m not a fan of Floyd in the top 10. I’m thinking its going to be Claiborne. I think he falls by draft day. He is not going to get any higher than he is, and it always seems like a few people ‘Tyson Jackson’ themselves up the board.
Glad to be back.

Well....
I think Floyd has great athleticism and all but he’s a red flag player. He’s too busy drinking imo. Don’t take him period. So if there is almost no one worth taking in the top 10, will the Jaguars draft on need instead of BAP? I really like Alshon Jeffery and believe he truly was a victim of bad QB play. I’d take him over Floyd. He keeps his mouth shut and plays ball. He’s big and powerful and that’s going to force defenders to back up away from him. Is he top 10? Maybe so and maybe not. But this is a weak class. Just take him at 7. He has the attributes. Speed isn’t everything. He can catch and take a hit while catching the ball. Sounds good to me.
I need my meds.
I have said from the beginning that, in my opinion, Floyd is the best receiver in the draft.
I think Blackmon will be like Crabtree, and Floyd is more athletic than any of the rest.
I would be fine if we took him at 7. Although, I would be fine with Coples or Kiratrick, too.

By my calculations...
…four players may possibly be available for the Jags at #7 that are #1 in their respective positions. This is based on the top six picks being made for need, not BAP. Also includes whether the Redskins trade up with the Vikings or the Browns.
The four players are Morris Claiborne (fat chance, but possible), Quinton Couples, David DeCastro, and Devon Still.
After those three there would be J. Martin (#3 tackle), Dre Kirkpatrick (#2 CB) or Kendall Wright (#2 WR).
Based on Scout.com’s player rankings it should be one of these 7 guys, unless Gene sees another dark horse somewhere, and no matter what happens in free agency.
Redskins don’t trade up for a QB, I see them taking Blackmon and the if the Vikings move down, they take Riley Reif. Browns & Redskins trade, Redskins take RGIII & Browns take Blackmon.
Just sayin’…it’s the off season.
I think Claiborne may actually end up being our guy.
If Redskins stay put and get Manning in FA, they will need one of the OT to protect his old, broken necked behind.
