All the experts at the major media sports outlets are saying it would never happen. I think Manning to Jacksonville makes perfect sense. Yes, the Jaguars gave up a 1st and 2nd round pick for Blaine Gabbert in last years draft and took him 10th overall. The fact of the matter is that even though he went 10th overall he's inexpensive for a QB due to the new rookie wage scale. Gabbert is due to make 12 million over 4 years which is 3 million a year. 3 million a year happens to be the average cost of a NFL QB that is a backup according to NFL.com.
What better way to blossom a bright young QB who needs the help than having him sit behind Peyton Manning for a couple years? Let's face it. Blaine has the talent that Peyton never had behind him in Indy. No offense to Jim Sorgi or Curtis Painter but they are 3rd string guys at best. He could develop Blaine to be unbelievable.
The Jags have much more cap room than any of the teams in the so called Manning sweepstakes like the Redskins, Jets, or even Maimi. Mr. Kahn obviously wants to make a splash and what better way to do it than with arguably the best QB to ever play the game. Peyton could run whatever offense he wants and why would any of the coaches mind? The pass offense can't get any worse. Peyton could choose his wrs to sign with the Jaguars. The obvious being Reggie Wayne. However , wouldn't make it a whole lot easier to convince Vincent Jackson, Stevie Johnson, or Marques Colston to put on a Jaguars uniform with Peyton at the helm? I for one think so.
Jacksonville could be a dream for Peyton. The Jaguars already have one of the best defenses in the entire NFL. The have a great RB with a decent offensive line. Peyton has really never had any of those things in Indy. I see Jacksonville instantaneously being a top 5 team with Peyton, a proven wr, and a decent draft. Come on down Mario Williams and Peyton Manning...let's win it all right now in Jacksonville.
