fined for doing what exactly?

wow new england

you prove once again what a D-BAG of an organization you are.

by dan073eb on Feb 4, 2012 8:09 PM EST reply actions

What exactly has Underwood done

to deserve being in that game? He went from dropping poor passes in Jacksonville to dropping beautiful, spot-on Tom Brady passes in New England.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets brought back for training camp in NE and Belichick uses this as some wierd test of Tiquan’s determination.

by Jagtastic on Feb 4, 2012 8:25 PM EST up reply actions

not really

they had a player they wanted on the roster for the SB more than Tiquan. A business is a business. plain and simple.

anyways

it’s good he was released we need to re-sign him so we can have another WR to drop passes from Blaine.

by dan073eb on Feb 4, 2012 8:14 PM EST reply actions

Heartless

This is like releasing Garrard. After his entire family died in a horrific accident. Did they really need that roster spot?

He was at a benefit event

Doing publicity work for the good of his employers. They introduced him as “our quarterback” at the event and let him go afterward. Necessary or not, it’s a cold cold way of doing it.

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!

by DownTownJax on Feb 4, 2012 9:54 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Why? I thought Garrard needed to go. I hated how it was done though. This with Tiquan is even worse though. Why is it so wrong to say that a cold blooded move is cold blooded? I don’t hate either team for doing what they did, but if you can’t empathize with either guy, you really should take some time out for your fellow man. Empathy is one of the few traits that separates us from the animals.

know what else is cold-blooded?

Releasing your future HOF and all-time great QB’s ever to draft a new one. (colts)

Doesn’t change the fact that the NFL is a business.

Never said it wasn’t. Peyton got his SB ring and made plenty of money. He also didn’t have a Pats logo shaved in his head. Tiquan’s career is relatively young. I feel a bit more for Tiquan.

exactly my point

they cut him hours before the game, ive never heard of such a thing happening before regardless of how the player was performing.

by dan073eb on Feb 4, 2012 8:41 PM EST up reply actions

I'm sure it's happened

it just didn’t happen to a guy we knew so jags fans didn’t pay much attention to it.

by pksiv on Feb 5, 2012 8:58 AM EST up reply actions

It is totally up to the Patriots who gets a ring

Other organizations have given them to IR players who didn’t play a down in the regular season. The Pats will probably not give him one though. After that spiffy haircut too.

by patbert on Feb 4, 2012 10:26 PM EST up reply actions

He only caught 3 passes

and played 5 games for them. It’s not like he deserves a ring or anything. I feel bad for him, though…especially the Pats emblem in his head. Better than a tattoo, though.

by asharp12587 on Feb 4, 2012 9:43 PM EST reply actions

Why?

1. New guy offers a skill or need for the Pats in tomorrow’s big game that Tiquan doesn’t.
2. Pats want to reward new guy for some reason.
3. Other?

Read the link above

they promoted a LB from the Practice Squad. Maybe another LB has in injury or someone who plays special team etc… ? The NFL is a business, plain and simple.

by pksiv on Feb 5, 2012 9:00 AM EST up reply actions

I did, ergo "offers a skill..."

Unless they have injuries, I’d think it unlikely they’d play him on defense. So maybe special teamer. Regardless, has to be a huge disappointment for Tiquan.

Maybe it was simply about them rewarding a guy who's been on their practice squad a great portion of the year and has actually worked his way into playing time a few games this season (in a true position of need for the Pats, at that).

Has less to do with Underwood and more to do with the dude replacing him actually having the potential to do something in the game.

More-so, anyone get the feeling that Ocho Cinco playing has anything to do with this?

With Underwood out, wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, who played one snap vs. the Broncos in the divisional round and was inactive in the AFC Championship Game, will likely be active for Super Bowl XLVI, a source told ESPN’s Ed Werder. Ochocinco had a career-low 15 catches in his first season with the Patriots and was inactive for the AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens two weeks ago. He’s never played in the Super Bowl.

Odd that they would play someone in the championship game who basically hasn't played all season. Maybe it's a test for Ocho? (who's also on a three year contract, but could most definitely be cut before the season)

They wouldn’t carry both WRs into the game…so choose the three yr guy over the one yr drop passes dude. Think it over….

Per Adam Schefter

CBA says any player active for 8 games still entitled to full SB share. So Tiquan Underwood will receive his SB money and ring, if Pats win.

Forget feelings

This is football..they released Tiquan and activated Ocho Cinco to reward the vet. After sitting out the last game, Ocho has a head full of steam and will be ready to play in his first SB.

While also activating Ocho...who was at his dad's funeral before the last game and couldn't make it back on time

so, it most definitely could be a reward for Ocho…who has a three yr contract vs underwood who is frankly just a body…

The amazing thing is the guy who they brought in off the practice squad in place of Underwood did not even play a single snap

Nor did the rookie RB from LSU who was activated in place of Kevin Faulk.
