Two round Jags mock draft.
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS FIRST TWO ROUNDS.
Rond 1.7. Trade with Cincy.
Jags get picks 17&21
1.17. Kendall Wright- This guy is and absolute monster on the field the only knock on him is height. How many teams are kicking themselves for passing on mike wallace in 09. i say he may be faster and he is surely more physical, think( Steve Smith Carolina).
1.21. Vinny Curry. Not many people including myself knew about this guy until the senior bowl but man can he ball. he has a motor thats non-stop i think hes a perfect fit for Jacksonville and with coaches like Joe Cullen and Mel Tucker he could turn out to be ab double digit sack guy thats been missing Tony Brackens.
2.38. Stephen Gillmore. Has everything it takes to develop into top 10 corner in the league. He has shockingly good hands for a corner, tracks the ball well and is one of the more physical corners in the draft. He does seem to take too may chances which can really leave you looking bad. i say hes a good value here.
OR IF WE STAY PUT
1.7.Quentin Coples- I love coples and i would not hesitate to take him here. One of the big reasons his sack numbers were down is because Marvin Austin left school and they experimented with him at DT. If they would have keep him in his more natural DE position full time he hits 15 sacks again this year. i could see him being the aldon smith of this draft as far as ability goes.
2.38. Juron Criner- He has excellent size at 6'2 222 lbs has good hands and knows how to finish. He also should run low 4.4 high 4.5 i know its easy to say because of the jersey number but he reminds me of a Young Jimmy Smith and with new WRs coach Jerry Sullivan being regarded as one of the best to ever do it he could be a steal here.

Good mocks
I like the second mock better because of Quentin Coples and also I like a wide receiver in the second
low 4.4 high 4.5 is a pretty big range
think you meant low 4.5 high 4.4
Also, not sure why cincy trades their two firsts to pick at 7 unless claiborne is there, and in that case I might be for taking him and not trading down.

I prefer the second scenario.
Out of curiosity, who do you think Cincy would take at 7? 17 and 21 are two good picks to give up…
Fidelis Ad Mortem
Yeah your right on the speed range
But your wrong they would jump to get trent richaradson, seein as they have been tyrna get rid of cedric benson for two years. And he would be da big play back they need to complement dalton and green. Reminds me of mjd. Also if claiborne is here I agree we stay and take him, but I dont see it.

The thing is
MJD was a late second rounder. You can find very effective RBs in later rounds. That is why guys like TRich fall. I’m not saying he will last past #10, but it’s a stretch to see Cinci trading 2 first rounders.
Cincy won't trade both picks.

Why not..
They would still get our first, which leaves them with a full draft. And they get a once in a decade type off back to take there offense to a new level in a division with 3 potential other top 5 defenses.

why trade two spots
for 1 good player, when they can stay put and get two good players.

To be fair, I didn't think the Julio trade
Would render as much as it did, especially for a Wide receiver.
2 mid round 1st picks for a team that feels it is just an inch away from contention is not automatic rule out. It’s different for us, but consider the teams that feel like they only need one thing out of a draft and feel like the rest of it is gravy. While I, just like all of us other talent starved-draft nuts Jags fans, think every pick should matter, teams like Atlanta last year just can’t help themselves when they feel so close.
I’m betting a handful of NFC teams feel that way right now. I’m betting a lot of AFC teams feel a lot more like us, including the Bengals.
For a better analysis, I think we look at who. Who would they take, and who would be trading. Considering the amount of holes the Bengals have, and knowing they’ll have another draft in 2013 that they can play more risky with (another extra 1st, I think), I don’t think it’s the Bengals, no matter how much we think they must want Trent Richardson. They have next year to get cute and in that conference they need a lot more talent to compete.
I like a trade with the Eagles as they’ve got an extra 2nd, and know they’ll need to be able to take one of the top WRs. I bet they over-inflate a Floyd or Wright, and jump Carolina, Buffalo, etc. to get their top guy if he’s not named Justin Blackmon.
they arent going to
i asked all the cincy fans on their blog and they laughed me off the site saying its ridiculous to think their managment would have the balls enough to do that. so i doubt they will so i lik the second better

If you would take Gilmore
in the first scenario…you should still take him in the second scenario. That being said; those are all players I wouldn’t mind having on my team.
Would love gillmore
But like criner a little more here or even sanu. If we do that and sing finnegan or grimes, and maybe M. Colston and Harry Douglas in free agency were looking pretty good.

If they stay
They can pick two good players, but T.Rich could be great he was a man amongst boys in confrence of full grown man. After him the talent level is pretty even and they could get players with similar grades in the second round.

Its not as bad as you make it sound
Although I can see your point. But foolish I think not. They are not that far off, richardson makes them one of the hottest trios in the league. Im jus sayin they could withstand the blow if they really want him, and still come out with a strong draft class

coples is jpp
meaning hes boom or bust. gene likes to stay away from these guys. Kuechly Reiff and claborne look like the safe picks
You have no idea what you're talking about
First, no Coples is not like JPP…at all.
Second, Blaine Gabbert is a boom or bust guy. Nearly all of our lower round picks are boom or bust guys.
Third, Claiborne will most likely be gone by our pick. This isn’t a draft full of top 10 potential, and he’s a top 3 kinda guy. I don’t think we see him fall.
Fourth, Kuechly would be a waste. Not because he’s not good, but where do you put him? Session splits a start already with Coleman, so he can’t lose time. Nobody should be replacing Pozluszny long term any time soon. You want to bench Smith?
Finally, seriously Coples is not JPP. They are at the exact opposite spectrum of playstyle. JPP is a pure Pass Rusher who was raw but had physical tools and a good final year in college. Coples is an experienced, versatile DE who isn’t elite in pass rushing, but destroys pockets…who by the way had a bad final year in college.
number 1
Definately the first but it’s very unlikely. Vinny curry is an absolute beast. Seen him in about 4 games the past few years and I would love for us to get him in round 2 but I doubt he’ll be there.

Like the first but its not going to happen.
Would like Coples and a WR in the 2nd. I dont know about Criner maybe McNutt
SCALP'EM
Jesus is Lord!
Juron Criner is nothing like Jimmy Smith
Criner 6-4 and is expected to run a 4.6 in the 40.
I don’t know about Criner that high in the 2nd. That looks like a reach. Right now Criner is expected to be a low 2nd high 3rd round pick. Criner played in a spread offense and didn’t show a whole lot of speed.
