David Garrard Signs with the Miami Dolphins

A year after being unceremoniously released from the Jacksonville Jaguars free agent QB David Garrard signs with Miami. Following his best year statistically in 2010 Garrard was cut from the Jaguars roster five days away from the regular season. It was later discovered that he needed back surgery, and that put him out of commission for the rest of the season. Garrard has stated multiple times that he still wanted to start and now he gets his opportunity for the job. He will compete with Matt Moore for the job.

Cutting Garrard was a very controversial decision by management as some fans believed rookie Blaine Gabbert was not ready to start. After making the playoffs and having a great year in 2007, Garrard regressed in 2008 and 2009, before setting a franchise record in TDs thrown in 2010. It will be interesting to see if Garrard can find success elsewhere.
