Since the draft is nearing, several mock drafts have been released and there has been a lot of speculation of who the Jaguars are going to select in the first round. Going into the draft the Jags have needs at a few positions, mainly defensive line and receiver. The need for a receiver is more prominent since the franchise hasn’t had a legit receiver since Jimmy Smith.
Based on Gene Smith’s previous draft selections, this year’s first round pick will likely be used to select an offensive or defensive lineman and the signing of Laurent Robinson may be an indication that the team plans to stray away from receivers in the first round. Therefore, the attention turns to the second round, where the Jags have the 38th pick overall.
This year’s receiver class is headed by Justin Blackman and other names like Stephen Hill, Alshon Jeffrey, Kendall Wright and Michael Floyd have the potential to be selected in the first round. By the time the Jaguars second pick rolls around, all those receivers could be taken. Although those receivers are off the board, the Jaguars could find good value in LSU’s Reuben Randle.
Randle has decent size (6’3”, 210lbs), speed (4.43 at LSU pro day) and is a solid athlete. He has good hands and can make plays after the catch. He’s still a bit raw, but has amazing potential to develop into something great. Below are several links of film and analysis on Randle.
What’s your opinion of Reuben Randle in the 2nd?
