Looking at all of the options of what could be, who could be, at pick #7 one would think that the Jaguars have a good problem. There could be a top end CB in Claiborne available to fill an aging Mathis' shoes and give the Jaguars arguably the best DB group for years to come. There could be a number of WRs, Floyd, Blackmon, certainly Hill and others. But one could question using a first round pick on a WR with all the recent success of late round WRs... Late round success of other teams WRs that is. Quinton Coples is a popular pick, and Ingram is another DE prospect often mocked here at 7. After the jump I'll give you a selection that, in my opinion, has GM Gene written all over it.
With the seventh pick in the NFL draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select, Fletcher Cox, defensive tackle, Mississippi State. After reviewing his measurables, his stats, and a little background info a found a player that combines needs at 2 positions, with a tackle very capable of playing DE. A big guy, who may be needed with Smith still being a question and Knighton recently being injured. You get the big guys early. As pissed off as the fans may be, Gene's strategy may not waiver this year. And you may see WR addressed later, yet again. And I wouldn't at all be surprised by any pick but, this pick, seems like a safe hit that possibly flies out of the park.
