The Jacksonville Jaguars begin their voluntary offseason workouts today and expect virtually everyone to participate. There are two players who won't be showing up on Tuesday however, kicker Josh Scobee and running back Maurice Jones-Drew. Scobee has yet to sign his franchise tender and is looking for a long term deal and is technically not under contract.
As far as Maurice Jones-Drew, he's stil training out in California where he lives in the offseason. Him being a no show should come as no shocker as there have been rumblings he's been looking for a new contract. I wrote about this back in March and warned that it shouldn't be a shock if he misses some of the voluntary workouts. I don't know how staunch Jones-Drew is going to be in wanting as far as a new deal, but when push comes to shove he will be there when it matters and be ready to play. Jones-Drew has also skipped voluntary workouts in the past.
Other players who will not be participating, but due to the fact they're recovering from injuries are Aaron Kampman, John Chick, Terrance Knighton, Rashean Mathis, Tyson Alualu, and Ashton Youboty. According to Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union, John Chick is still in a brace and on crutches.
