2012 NFL Draft: Jaguars, Buccaneers Trade Draft Picks

Stay connected for news and updates

Welp.

It shouldn't come as a complete surprise that the Jaguars have traded up considering Gene Smith's history as general manager of the Jaguars. Just last year he traded up from 16 to 10 to acquire quarterback Blaine Gabbert and he's done it again this year trading up from the seventh selection to pick five. However, many reports from ESPN are that Shahid Khan is the one that has a certain affinity for Oklahoma State WR Justin Blackmon and pushed for a trade to occur.

The Jaguars are now going to be on the clock right after the Vikings and the most likely target here is Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon. The terms of the trade will not be announced until later in the draft, but moving up in the top 10 picks is never cheap. Although it was just a move of two spots, it likely cost the Jaguars 3rd or an amount in that range that could include future picks as well.

We'll have more coverage and reaction on BCC of the player they select with this newly acquired selection.

UPDATE: Tania Ganguli reports the Jaguars gave up pick 101 in the fourth round to trade with the Buccaneers.
