This team entered the draft, with two huge needs. Defensive End and Wide Receiver. Everybody knew that, from JAX to New York, everybody knew it. Nobody realized what our 3rd major need, was and that was punter. Our Special teams sucked last year, and punting was terrible. It started out with Matt Turk, and ended with Nick Harris. The play of Special Teams can win you football games, and with not having the ability to pin the opposing team deep in their own territory consistently, is giving the opposing team a better chance to score. So you can argue that, if the Jaguars consistently pinned teams deep in their own territory, they would have ended the season with more Wins, because a lot of our games were close. Pinned deep, and forced to punt, we get the all back, and they don't get that last drive score.
Who was left on the board:(not in order)
1. Brandon Brooks G Miami(Ohio)
2. Jamell Flemming CB Oklahoma
3. Tyrone Crawford DE Boise State
4. Mohamed Sanu WR Rutgers
5. Dwight Bentley CB Louisiana-Lafayette
6. T.Y. Hilton WR Floridia International
7. Brandon Thompson DT Clemson
I'd rather take Sanu or Hilton, but this pick doesn't bother me. The Jaguars supposedly had him at the top of their board. So the BAP at a position of need, and everyone is upset, supposedly the Rams were going to take him. And we trolled them once again.
