Blaine Gabbert Had A Broken Toe, According To Report

Stay connected for news and updates

Yesterday, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert revealed that he played nearly all of the 2011 with an unspecified toe injury. We now know exactly what that injury was, as Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union reports that it was a broken toe.

As Ganguli also notes on Twitter, the Jaguars were not required to list the injury on the weekly injury report if it did not force Gabbert to miss playing time or change his participation level in practice. Similar to the situation in 2010 with Maurice Jones-Drew, when he revealed after the season he played with a torn meniscus but never appeared on the injury report for it.

Certainly, Gabbert had enough problems of his own during his rookie season, but playing with a broken toe much of the season certainly couldn't have helped him.
