The Jaguars had a solid draft, drafting players to replace certain players on the roster. They also went out and signed some undrafted players to compete for a roster spot. Here are my biggest position battles.
1.) LCB- Rashean Mathis/ Aaron Ross
2.) NCB- Aaron Ross/ Rashean Mathis
3.) C- John Estes/ Michael Brewster
4.) LDE- Aaron Kampman/ Andre Branch/ Austen Lane/ ???Tyson Alualu???
5.) ROLB- Clint Session/ Brandon Marshall
6.) K- Josh Scobee/ Long Ding
7.) ???LDT- Tyson Alualu/ D'Anthony Smith???
LCB- If Mathis wins the starting job, Ross will be moved to NCB. If Ross wins the job, Mathis will be moved to NCB. Who will it be???
NCB- If Mathis wins the starting job, Ross will be moved to NCB. If Ross wins the job, Mathis will be moved to NCB. Who will it be???
C- I like this position battle. If you think about it, 2 undrafted FA's battling to be the future replacement of an all-time Jaguar great.
LDE- Aaron Kampman has the starting job, for now. If Kampman can stay healthy, he might have a shot at a roster spot. If not, Branch is the guy. My creative pick at this position is Alualu because of his size, experience, and motor. Alualu has a big frame at 6'3"/ 296 lbs., a lot of exerience at DE in college, and a great motor. If he can shed some lbs., he might have a shot.
ROLB- If Session can push past the concussions, he is the starter. If he can't be the start of the preseason, he might get released. Marshall has a shot at being the starter at ROLB.
K- We all know who the starter will be. I want to see if Ding can make the roster.
LDT- If the Jaguars want to get creative, and move Alualu to DE, that opens the door to Smith to be the starter at LDT. It all depends on what the coaches want to do.
