The Jacksonville Jaguars invited former Furman quarterback Chris Forcier and former Liberty quarterback Mike Brown to the rookie mini-camp on a tryout basis and apparently liked what they saw. According to the Furman Athletics website, the Jaguars have signed Forcier to a free agent contract and according to the official Liberty Athletics Facebook page the Jaguars have signed Brown.
Forcier played quarterback for Furman, but the 6'3 215 pound athlete will be making the move to wide receiver as he tries to make the Jaguars final squad. Forcier began his college career at UCLA before transferring to Furman and was voted the Paladins team MVP his senior year.
Forcier is good sized receiver with speed, clocking in the 4.39 range at his pro day. The Jaguars seemingly have a lot of talent at the receiver position in 2012, which is something that hasn't been said about that position for quite a while. I twill be tough for Forcier to make the final roster, but he's clearly impressed the coaching staff enough to the point that they want to see more.
Brown is also a former quarterback turned wide receiver and is a bit smaller than Forcier coming in at 5'10 and 205 pounds. Brown ran in the 4.65 range in the 40-yard dash at his Pro Day, but seems to have good ability after the catch with the football in his hands. It's also possible the Jaguars could take a look at him as a kick returner.
