Can't fight the hype

The way last year went for the Jaguars, the season couldn't have ended any faster. This time of year, everyone is undefeated and like every off season, there is new hope, new life and new hype. True jaguar fans know it is easy to be a jaguar fan in the off season, but many fans falter during the season. Maybe, just maybe, this year may be different.

After the always scrutinized Gene Smith quietly built a top 10 defense last year with not the biggest names in the NFL, he's now looking to do the same this year on offense. At least it was quiet until the splash of Justin Blackmon. A splash that sent a load roar through the town center, so loud you can still hear the echoes. Did the Jaguars really just draft the best play maker in the draft? it seems surreal. A perfect compliment to Laurent Robinson and Lee Evans.

Media members are now asking, " Is Blackmon the final piece the Jaguars needed "? Or you hear people making the statement, " Gabbert has no excuses ". Which both lead me to believe that there is an actual reason to believe the hype. While the defense was healthy last year, the jaguars were in every game till the end (except the Jets game). During this time, they were consist and watchable, which the jaguars lacked for years with Garrard at the helm. If the Jags can stay healthy, I believe Mike Malarkey will do his part and field an offense us Jaguar fans have been craving for.

I believe that strongly, because in Malarkey's 2 years of head coaching and 5 years of offensive coordinator, he only had two years he wasn't sucessfull. One, was because his quarterback was J.P. Losman and the other year was under Nick Saban in Miami. Other than that, his offenses ranked 5th, 7th, 7th, 10th, and 13th. The Jaguars are on the right track and I for one have my popcorn ready. Go jags!
