NFL Tells Teams To Project 'Flat' Salary Cap Through 2015

Stay connected for news and updates

With the new collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and the NFLPA, many have wondered what the salary cap is going to look like going forward and how much it would increase year to year with all the money the league will be making from their new broadcast deals. It won't go up very much at all, according to a report by the Sports Business Journal.

It won't be until the 2016 NFL season that the salary cap will exceed the 2009 salary cap, which means while veterans will be getting more money the overall spending won't necessarily be to the level in which the NFLPA made it seem. I'm not sure how much this will change what teams do when the spending to the cap rule goes into effect, but it's not looking like teams are going to have to shell out nearly as much as we once thought.
