Message to Justin Blackmon

Justin, I know you're at an age where you wanna party, have fun, & do alot of crazy things. However, the truth is, you are now an NFL WR, & I can only imagine how much time is actually put between practices, working out, catching ball drills, studying film & most importantly how you present yourself off-the-field and/or what kind of guy you choose to be outside of football. Personally, I don't doubt more than half the league does what you did on any given day, but with their luck lingering unfortunately, they haven't gotten caught yet, but their time will come eventually. Stay away from ALL & ANY Local & National media talks, TV's, paper's, sports radio stations, etc. Believe me, you'll spare yourself any further discomfort you're feeling right now. I can only imagine how you felt after getting caught & put in the backseat of the cruiser knowing damn well you messed up horribly. I, too, was caught within a year & stayed overnight at the local detention facility for a DUI arrest. Lesson learned!

Moving along, you have God given talent in the football world, & as it turns out, whether you have to be screened for alcohol every week, attend counseling, or suspended, it ALL falls back on you so MAN UP to your mistake while facing whatever consequences you endure, & everything else will fall back into place. You stated you didn't have a drinking problem (I believe that), but you used "poor judgement" as your excuse & I believe that as well.

The NFL, Justin, is more-so a business based off your performance, & as a result it really can stand for "Not For Long." Luckily, you have guys like Owner Shahid Khan, GM Gene Smith, Coach Mike Mularkey & a number of current & former player's (including the legendary Freddy T) who have gone to show their support. You have a life ahead of you with guys praying to one day be in your stance as a professional athlete. I have faith you will overcome this tragic event & play lights out football for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Don't listen to a soul who says you can't clear your image, just remember, you're doing this for yourself & never to prove anyone wrong. During the span, take some time alone & figure out what you really wanna do. You can continue to grow & become that "NFL Icon" we ALL envision you to be, or you can flunk the challenge at hand, & to say the least, lose your privilege of being in this league. I support you, I will pray you choose the right path & finally, I expect this to be a slight bump on the road to a wonderful career. Stay sincere to yourself & you may want to revise your friends, don't pretend & forever comprehend your actions. Allow yourself to recommit, as every soul revolved around you will admit, don't quit, "the skies the limit."
