In two weeks, it all begins. That’s right, just two weeks until Jaguars 2012 Training Camp. Then, we spend the better part of two weeks basking – er, baking – in the early morning sun at the Florida Blue Health and Wellness Practice Fields before sneaking in a few indoor hours to do it all again in the afternoon. We’ll be watching a young team with a first-year head coach and a new offensive coaching staff. We’ll be watching for rookies to develop, for young players to continue to grow and for a team with more potential than many believe to begin coming together.
Fear not, the always entertaining Jim Irsay is here to lend his handy prediction skills to you, Colts fans. Or something. The owner of the Indianapolis Colts made a promising prediction via Twitter regarding the Colts ability to effectively sell a slew of lingering tickets, thus escaping their first black out that would end a streak of 79 sold out games. Up second, he's also predicting that Andrew Luck will be signed and in camp, on time.
Jared Cook has world class talent. The speed of a wide receiver and the strength of a linebacker all packed into the body of a tight end. It's scary how great this guy can be. But are we maybe expecting too much? Is this not a tune we have heard countless times? A freak athlete who can be a star. Players like that exist on every team, however, only a small percentage reach half of their potential.
I retweeted a few quotes from Vance Joseph a few days ago, but I neglected to get a full post up about what the DB coach for your Houston Texans told Nick Scurfield about the progress of Brandon Harris and Roc Carmichael. The development of Harris and Carmichael would have been a topic of interest regardless, but there's probably a heightened focus because of the rumors swirling about why Harris couldn't get on the field last year and the fact that Carmichael is coming off a rookie campaign spent on injured reserve. As you'd expect in July, Coach Joseph is bullish on both guys as they approach their second season.
