Maurice Jones-Drew Learning Quickly, Says Bob Bratkowski

For the first time since becoming the offensive coordinator of the Jaguars, Bob Bratkowski has the opportunity to work with Maurice Jones-Drew after the three-time Pro Bowler ended a lengthy holdout on Sunday. Despite being far behind on knowing the offense, Bratkowski says MJD is learning fast so far.

"It's good to have him here," Bratkowski told Jacksonville media members on Thursday. "I am really impressed with him. He's a very intelligent young man, and he picks things up really quick. I really like his personality. A great personality, so this is my first time around him but it's been really fun."

While Jones-Drew will not be the starting running back in the season opener for the Jaguars against the Vikings, he is expected to be the third-down back for the team and get a fair amount of touches, despite missing all of the preseason.

"We're trying to get him the big picture of everything," Bratkowski said. "We've been spending extra time with Coach (Sylvester) Croom and really trying to get the background that makes the pieces fit together because you just can't piecemeal it."
