San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman is rumored to be the favorite to replace Mike Mularkey, but if he is the Jaguars will have to wait.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have fired head coach Mike Mularkey and will now begin their new coaching search. The rumors have pointed to Jaguars general manager David Caldwell preferring Greg Roman as the new head coach, but Roman is currently the offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers and cannot be interviewed right away.
Jags have fired Mike Mularkey. If they want to interview Greg Roman moving forward, have to wait until 49ers area eliminated or SB bye week

Roman, who was a teammate with Caldwell in college at John Carroll University, has been the offensive coordinator for the 49ers the past two seasons and has been credited with getting efficient play out of quarterback Alex Smith.
Not only will the Jaguars need to wait on the 49ers playoff status to even interview Roman, before the team can hire someone they will need to meet the Rooney Rule requirement and interview a minority candidate.
