If the Jaguars hope to make San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman or defensive coordinator Vic Fangio the fourth head coach in franchise history, they'll have to be patient and wait until next week after the 49ers defeated the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night, 45-31.
Per NFL rules, assistants for teams that earned a bye in the playoffs were allowed to be interviewed by teams in the week prior to the Wild Card round. However, at that time the Jaguars coaching position was still filled and the team was still in pursuit of a new general manager.
While Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley met with the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday, that was within the rules because assistants for teams that won during the Wild Card Weekend were allowed to interview in the week prior to the Divisional round.
Following the conclusion of the Divisional round, the assistant for the four remaining teams will all be off limits for interviews until after the conference championships.
The 49ers advanced to the NFC Championship on Saturday where they'll face the winner of Sunday's game between the Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks.
