The Jacksonville Jaguars have a ton of holes on their roster and can really go in any position in the NFL Draft thanks to picking No. 2 overall. It's widely believed that the Kansas City Chiefs will be drafting a quarterback with the first overall pick, so logic dictates that the Jaguars should probably draft the best defensive lineman/pass rusher on the board.
Mocking The Draft has the Jaguars picking defensive line in their latest 2013 NFL Mock Draft:
2. Jacksonville Jaguars - Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
Because they still don't have a head coach, the Jaguars are a hard team to choose for. The known with the Jaguars is that new general manager David Caldwell will want to build the team largely through the draft. It was the philosophy Caldwell was part of in Atlanta and with the second pick he can do the same in Jacksonville. Lotulelei is a nice piece to anchor a defense around. He's a lineman who can play in either the 4-3 or 3-4. The addition of Lotulelei would also give the Jaguars the flexibility of letting Terrance Knighton walk. With the top quarterback off the board, Jacksonville may look for a signal caller at the start of the second round.
Lotulelei has become a popular pick for the Jaguars, mostly because no one knows what their defensive scheme is going to be going forward just yet. Lotulelei fits in both a 4-3 and 3-4 defense, so slotting him in here for the Jaguars makes a ton of sense, mock draft wise, because he's so scheme diverse. He can play the 0- and 1-technique in a 3-4 defense and the 3-technique in a standard 4-3 front.
