Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

McCoy led a Broncos offense that finished with the second most points in the NFL in 2012.

The Jaguars can scratch a candidate of the list as Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy is expected to finalize a deal on Tuesday making him the new head coach of the San Diego Chargers, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

McCoy, 40, was thought to be a candidate for the Jaguars head coaching spot and had received interest from the Cardinals, Bills, Eagles and Bears as well. He finished his fourth season as offensive coordinator for the Broncos in 2012, leading a team that finished with the second-most points in the NFL.

Prior to joining the Broncos, McCoy served as a coach for the Carolina Panthers, rising from offensive assistant to quarterbacks coach before eventually becoming the team's passing game coordinator in 2007.

The Broncos finished the 2012 regular season with 11 consecutive wins and a 13-3 record, but were eliminated in their first postseason game with a 38-35 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in double overtime.
