Darrell Bevell to Interview With Jaguars

The current Seahawks offensive coordinator has been granted permission to interview with the Jags.

The Jacksonville Jaguars continue to have names added and subtracted to new GM Dave Caldwell's list of potential head coaching candidates.

After it was learned earlier today that one candidate, former Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, had accepted the head position with the San Diego Chargers, the team apparently wasted no time in finding someone to interview in his stead, as ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the team has received permission to interview Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.

Bevell has held the coordinator title with the Seahawks since January of 2011, after running the offense for the Minnesota Vikings for five seasons (2006-10).

In his time as OC for the Seahawks, the team has seen a resurgence in the career of running back Marshawn Lynch from a near draft bust with the Buffalo Bills, to an All-Pro running back. Bevell is also credited with tailoring the Seattle offense around rookie quarterback Russell Wilson, allowing the quarterback to turn in a phenomenal first season statistically while leading the Seahawks to the brink of the NFC Championship game as a rookie.

The Seahawks offense finished ranked 9th overall in points scored, buoyed by back to back 50+ point games at the end of the season.

Bevell has already been linked to the head coaching openings with the Chicago Bears as well as the University of Wisconsin, this Winter.

This will mark the second member of the Seahawks staff that will potentially interview with the Jaguars, as they have also received permission to interview their defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, though rumors are floating that Bradley has potentially accepted the head coaching position with the Philadelphia Eagles.
