The new Jaguars head coach says he doesn't want to rush into hiring assistants too quickly.

The Jaguars officially made a hire to fill their head coaching vacancy on Thursday, appointing former Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley to the position. On Friday, Bradley was introduced during a press conference with general manager Dave Caldwell and owner Shahid Khan.

"I know I found the right man in Gus Bradley," Caldwell said. "Gus is a leader of men and he will bring a positive energy and enthusiasm to this organization, team and city."

"It feels like home and I'm really excited about it," Bradley said. "I think what sold me on this opportunity was the passion. I'm a defensive coach and I have a lot of passion, I'm trying to hold my excitement back now....I knew our philosophies meshed together. It became very exciiting very fast in the interview process."

Early in the press conference, questions were asked of the search for a staff of assistant coaches and Bradley stressed that he doesn't want to rush into a search and make decisions too quickly. "We're trying to find the best. Some young coaches make mistakes by making decisions too quickly," Bradley said.

In 2012, the Jaguars finished with the worst record in franchise history, winning just two games. The poor season resulted in the firing of general manager Gene Smith after four seasons and the subsequent firing of Mike Mularkey after just one. The Seahawks allowed the fewest points in the NFL in 2012 and advanced to the divisional round of the playoffs.
