After meetings in both Gainesville, Georgia and at the Jaguars facilities in Jacksonville, Florida, many NFL executives believe that Dave Caldwell is going to be the next general manager of the Jaguars, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
A source told Big Cat Country that Caldwell wowed in his interview on Monday, although the same source said that a decision hasn't been made and Tom Gamble is not out of the running for the job.
Caldwell was promoted in the 2012 offseason to Personnel Director of the Atlanta Falcons after serving for four seasons as the team's Director of College Scouting. He also has experience with the Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts.
Jaguars owner Shahid Khan made a stop in Gainesville, Georgia on Monday, making an interview with Caldwell his first after the firing of Gene Smith. He interviewed Caldwell again on Wednesday with a trip to the Jaguars facilities. Khan is not expected to make a hiring until early next week.
