David Caldwell rumors: Jaguars target impresses Jets

The Jaguars will have competition for Falcons personnel man David Caldwell.

The Jacksonville Jaguars search to replace general manager Gene Smith continues a week after his firing, but the top candidates have some competition. David Caldwell, the Atlanta Falcons director of player personnel is rumored to be the favorite to land the job after interviewing with the Jaguars three times, also has the New York Jets on his heels.

According to Albert Breer of NFL Network, Caldwell had a good interview with the Jets and "could have options" when it comes to landing a general manager position.

It was reported on Monday that the Jaguars were in position to offer their general manager position to either David Caldwell or Steve Keim, but both have other options they can jump to if they so desire. Caldwell appears to be able to pick between the Jets or the Jaguars, and Keim seems like a lock to be promoted by the Arizona Cardinals.

I expected the Jaguars general manager search to be winding down by now, but there is no need to start a panic. No one has hired a general manager yet, so the field is still wide open.
