SANTA CLARA -- Offensive coordinator Greg Roman became regarded as a serious candidate for an NFL head-coaching position on Tuesday. The Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday hired Atlanta director of player personnel David Caldwell as their general manager. Roman and Caldwell were teammates and roommates in the 1990s at John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio. The status of Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey is unsettled with the hiring of Caldwell as GM.

The Jaguars have hired Atlanta director of player personnel Dave Caldwell as the team’s new general manager. "We got our man," owner Shad Khan said in a statement.
