Jacksonville Jaguars: Time To Fully Embrace Rebuild
The Jacksonville Jaguars are going to go 0-16 this year and end up with the first pick in the NFL Draft. After another lopsided loss on Sunday the reality of this is starting to feel more and more inevitable. For the realistic members of the Jaguars fan base, how bad this team is shouldn’t come as any surprise. What Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell inherited from the previous regime was a roster saddled with a significant lack of talent and a handful of bad contracts that were given away in ill-advised free agency spending sprees.
Inside the Jaguars: A week for evaluation
JACKSONVILLE – On the field, the Jaguars will get a much-needed week off. That doesn’t mean there’s no work this week. Winless midway through the regular season, Gus Bradley said the Jaguars’ coaching staff will use the bye to evaluate everything from personnel to scheme and on-field approach. “We’ll use this week, really, for offense, defense and special teams,” Bradley said Tuesday afternoon, a day after the team returned to Jacksonville following a 42-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers at Wembley Stadium in London, England Sunday.
Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said general manager Dave Caldwell, the coaches and scouting department would engage in a “big personnel meeting” Tuesday night as the team’s brass takes stock of just how dismal this season has become and how they can try to salvage it. The Jaguars enter the bye week 0-8, having been outscored 264-86, after being routed 42-10 by San Francisco on Sunday in London. They’ve yet to play a game decided by single digits. While the players will get the rest of this week off to rest, the 2014 plan will surely start to unfold with the team not having to get ready for an opponent on Sunday. The roster remained intact following Tuesday’s trading deadline.
