The Jacksonville Jaguars suffered a big injury loss in the first quarter of their Week 5 game against the St. Louis Rams, as rookie offensive tackle Luke Joeckel was carted off with a right ankle injury.
Joeckel, 21, was the team's first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft and became the team's starting left tackle in Week 5 after the Jaguars traded Eugene Monroe to the Baltimore Ravens earlier in the week. Prior to the trade, Joeckel started the first four games of the season at right tackle.
Through the first four games, the Jaguars offensive line allowed 18 sacks, the second-most in the NFL, but the team could be in for even more if they are forced to rely on Cameron Bradfield and Austin Pasztor for an extended period of time.
The loss of Joeckel isn't going to kill the Jaguars' already extremely slim playoff chances, but he's a long-term piece that the team will need in the lineup.
