Shad Khan supports Dave Caldwell, Gus Bradley despite Jaguars struggles

Phil Sears-USA TODAY Sports

The Jaguars have had a rough first half of the season, tougher than most expected, but owner Shad Khan tells Dave Caldwell and Gus Bradley not to panic.

Despite the Jacksonville Jaguars sitting at 0-8 during the bye week, getting dominated in every game thus far. This has led to a lot of fans and some media to wonder about the job general manager Dave Caldwell and head coach Gus Bradley are doing.

One person who's not worrying yet is owner Shad Khan, who's told them both to not panic or change their vision.

"It’s unbelievable," Bradley told The Florida Times-Union. "When you have support like that from the owner and [Caldwell], it allows you to stay true."

Luckily for the Jaguars coaching staff and front office, Khan knew what the rebuilding process was going to entail because it was explained to him by Caldwell. As he noted the team would need to rely on rookies and young players, according to Ryan O'Halloran of the Times-Union.

"It’s a situation that, even from the beginning of that process, I was very honest with him," Caldwell told O'Halloran. "And he understands our vision and how we want to build this. We have to continue to put the building blocks in place."

Khan is confident that Bradley was the correct hire to deal with the adversity a rebuild brings because of his attitude and patience.

While words of support for the staff of an 0-8 team probably rings hollow with fans, likely upsetting some, it's exactly what the Jaguars need at the moment. Reinforcement of their vision and knowing that it's a process to fix the mess that Gene Smith created in attempting to build a roster.
