Perfect Jags 2014 Offseason, Draft, and Opening Day Roster

I know this is way early but I was bored so I decided to do this. This would be I think the best semi realistic off season for the Jags. Comments and input welcome I always enjoy talking with other Jag Fans.

Key Free Agents

Alex Mack C Cleveland- This is Brad Meesters final year and Mack is an excellent center who is only 28.

Walter Thurmond CB Seattle- Thurmond was coached for three years by Bradley in Seattle he’s only 26 and he fits the scheme. He should be relatively cheap considering he has a injury history but has an upgrade over Alan Ball, who has been serviceable

Linval Joseph DT New York Giants- Joseph is a huge DT with strength who he excels in run defense. He’s having a down year which would help us bargain him down in free agency and he’s only 25.

Michael Johnson DE Cincinnati- While I think the other three major free agent signings could be had for relatively cheap prices we might have to break the bank for Johnson who has been consistently good at rushing the passer and stopping the run for the Bengals. He’s also only 27 years old.

Key Non Returning/cut players

Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne, MJD, Jason Babin, Andre Brach, Will Rackley, Geno Hayes, Brad Meester, Tyson Alualu, Will Tu’ufo'ou, Justin Forsett, Alan Ball.

Key Resigns

Will Blackmon, Sen’ Derrick Marks, Clay Harbor, Jordan Todman, Austin Pasztor, Cameron Bradfield, Mike Brown

Round 1

Teddy Bridgewater QB Louisville- Jaguars need a quarterback Bridgewater is the top 5 pick in any draft and with his game already extremely polished he can come in and make an immediate impact on the offense. I think Bridgewater grades in the same tier as Mathew Stafford and I think he can come in and have similar production in his career.

Round 2

Vic Beasley DE Clemson- Beasley very well could be long gone before this pick, but if he doesn't put on size he could fall to this pick which I feel would be a steal for the Jags. Jacksonville still needs a pass rusher even though we got Michael Johnson in free agency. He could play a role similar to Bruce Irvin’s role in his rookie season in Seattle.

Round 3

Xavier Su’a-Filo G UCLA- Jacksonville’s interior line play is horrendous this year especially at the guard position. Su’a-Filo is a strong road grater guard who has the athleticism to move around in a zone blocking scheme. He would be a huge upgrade over Will Rackley, and would protect Teddy Bridgewater up the middle while paving the way for whoever is the jags 2014 running back.

Round 4

Jeremiah Attouchu OLB/DE Georgia Tech– Keep the pass rushers coming Attouchu is a very fast LB/DE hybrid who is decent in pass coverage as well. He could play a similar role to Denver’s Von Miller in the Jags 4-3 Hybrid.

Andre Williams RB Boston College - A big bruising back he compares to Steven Ridley from the Patriots. He’s not the fastest running back but he is hard to bring down and runs hard. The Jags running back situation is a critical need after this season especially with a rookie QB; I think Williams has the talent to rush for 1200 yards and 8-10 touchdowns out the gate.

Round 5

Deandre Coleman DT Cal- Jags need more Depth on the D line. Coleman is another big D linemen who can stuff the run and could contribute from the start of the season.

Kevin Pierre Lewis OLB Boston College- The Jags have possibly one of the worst line backing situations in the NFL (the Titans game was the one exception) Pierre Lewis is a blazing fast linebacker who tackles extremely well and best of all he’s good in coverage.

Ryan Groy G Wisconsin- Injuries have decimated the Jags offensive line in recent years. Groy would provide a solid backup, and could possibly develop into a starter.

Round 6

L'Damien Washington WR Missouri- the Jags receiving core looked like a strength this season but with Justin Blackmon’s future in question, and the recent rash of injuries adding another one wouldn't hurt. L’Damien Washington would provide a vertical threat the Jags currently lack as Williams is fast and tall 6’4. He’s very raw but with the right coaching he has a very high ceiling.

Round 7

Austin Wentworth OT Fresno State- More offensive line depth, Luke Joeckel and Cameron Bradfield have gone down with injuries so carrying 4 tackles on the roster doesn't seem like a bad idea.
