Gus Bradley seeing results on the field, finally

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

While some fans might be upset at the Jaguars hurting their draft position, it's hard not to acknowledge that Gus Bradley's methodology is starting to pay off.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have won two out of their last three games out of the bye week, as well as winning the first back-to-back games on the road in quite some time. The season looked bleak for the Jaguars at the midway point, but as we look to the final six games of the season, it seems pretty clear that what Gus Bradley is doing is starting to pay off on Sunday.

"The road to success is always under construction,"-Gus Bradley

The Jaguars pulled no punches during the offseason, admitting that this team was going to have to go through a rebuild project, which meant that fans would need to be patient. Through the first eight weeks of the season, the Jaguars were laughable, getting their doors blown off by every team they went up against. It took until a "home" game in London for the team to score their first home touchdown, but even that was after the game was well out of hand.

Despite all of that however, the Jaguars players and coaching staff still seemed upbeat, because they knew they were trying to establish something. They were trying to build a new culture at EverBank Field, and it's finally starting to pay dividends.

In the Jaguars two wins this season, they weren't just lucky. They didn't need last second antics to win the games. They dominated the other teams for the most part, and more importantly they dominated division opponents. While the team saw Will Blackmon seal the win with some late game heroics, it was still likely they'd have held on to win against the Tennessee Titans. They made the Titans one-dimensional on offense and took advantage of it.

Against the Houston Texans the Jaguars just straight up dominated from start to finish.

With a junk roster, Gus Bradley and his staff are squeezing blood from a turnip. The young players they've brought in are getting settled and starting to get into a groove. Players that were on the scrap heap are contributing. They're even finding ways to get guys like Andre Branch to consistently have an effect on the game.

Yeah, the Jaguars are still 2-9, but it feels a lot different than it did last year. You can clearly see that they're building towards something, and that the coaching is showing up on the field.

It's going to be interesting to see what Gus Bradley can do when he gets some more talent.
