Looking Ahead: Second Half Storylines | Florida Times-Union

The Jaguars are 0-8 after a brutal first half of the season.
However, there are still many aspects of the team's development that bear watching over the final eight games.

ENDING THE SKID

Mid-Term Report: Will Jaguars improve? | Florida Times-Union

Midway through a season that has the Jaguars trending toward NFL infamy, there's one glimmer of hope: The second-half schedule is a lot kinder than the first two months.

The Jaguars played the league's toughest schedule as their first eight opponents, before Sunday's results, had a combined record of 43-18 (.705). The slate for November and December eases up as their opponents' combined record is 29-37 (.439), which should allow Gus Bradley's team a few opportunities to break into the win column. Or at least be more competitive even without suspended receiver Justin Blackmon.

O-Zone: First downs needed

At what point does Shad Khan release a statement to the city of Jacksonville and the fans? We're currently going down as one of the worst franchises in NFL history (statistically speaking), and now this with Blackmon. It seems like Mr. Khan is a great guy, and hired the right personnel, but I would like a statement from him just to comfort the fan base. Or is that asking too much? The Jaguars are a strong bet to draft a quarterback in the first or second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Early look at the 2014 QB Class | Florida Times-Union

The good news is unlike last year, when the Jaguars held the second pick but didn't view a quarterback worthy of that spot, there should be plenty of intriguing prospects this time around.

With the draft process still a long way from being over, Times-Union sports writer Hays Carlyon ranks the top 10 quarterback prospects heading into the draft. Note: underclassmen are included.
