Leo or Geno: Better option to win NOW!?

What's up gang? It's Sir Rod 'O reporting from the comforts of my plush lounge (not really) here to tell you a story about the predictions of the 2013 Draft. What makes a good mock draft? Is it the belief that a so called "expert" will magically pick your team the perfect combination of freshly drafted college players to make your team a Super Bowl contender EVERY SINGLE YEAR! Good Luck! I admit though, I was once a believer of the 'mock draft'...it was and truly is the only interesting news during a stale time in sports where there are a bagillion basketball games going on every night, or baseball is starting up again when it seems like the season just ended. So rock on 'mock drafts' do your thing. I ain't hating. What I am doing is offering a little bit of a prediction myself if I can do so...

I'm the biggest Jaguar fan...yada yada yada...you know the rest. All the good (95-99) the bad (2011) and the ugly (2012) years. From James Stewart & Natrone Means to Fred Taylor to Mojo from Buerlein to Brunell to Leftwich to Garrard to Gabbert/Henne and so on and so forth. I've seen the highs and the lows. Watched them as a child growing up. I watch every single game and hate to be interrupted when I do watch them because they are my favorite team and I'm a little OCDish...I'm a perfectionist (although you may not be able to tell from my grammar lol).

Watching the Jags over the past few years has been downright PAINFUL. Yet filled with memories that one day I hope to pass on to my kids...yada yada yada...I said that to say this.....if Geno Smith is there at No.2 or in any scenario where the Jags trade down to acquire more picks yet he still drops to them there is NO WAY they don't take him. You know WHAT I THINK will electrify this fan club and city GENO SMITH . Forget that QB from NY, whose name we shall not mention, and even though I'm a big Gabbert supporter I think Geno would immediately give you a chance to win and since the draft is so deep there are plenty of chances to get a much coveted LEO.

Heyey if you acquire another pick by moving down to say Detroit whose sitting at home waiting on a lockdown corner and may have to move up to prevent teams from getting such a corner in Alabama's Dee Milliner (much like Dallas did last year to get Mo Claiborne) you could use that extra pick to move back up into the 1st round ( like Tampa Bay did last year) and grab a top grade DE. Say you still have a 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th round pick....you catching my drift here...Not only do you grab a potential franchise quarterback, whom at the very least if he didn't turn out the way you want he could hopefully push Gabbert to be more competitive, but you also STILL have the opportunity to get OL and more DL help in the 3rd and 4th round and still get quality guys. You could even pick up a running back and linebacker to shore up your depth there. Of course all of this is dependent on how free agency turns out and with the jags already having a slew of pass rushers (i.e Mincey, Babin, Lane, Selvie, Chick, Branch and let's not forget that Alualu can play end in the new scheme) with a new scheme and different techniques that may cater to their abilities I think right now is the perfect time, where if you're Caldwell and Bradley, you grab your potential franchise QB (much like the 2012 Seattle Seahawks or the 2008 Atlanta falcons -from Alfie Crow's recent article)

Bradley comes from a team that not only opened up a competition, AFTER acquiring a highly expensive, high profile QB in Matt Flynn, but made it to the playoffs with a 5'11 rookie QB. Tell me in your opinion if you think right now the Jags/Bradley need another pass rusher or a game changing QB to give them a chance of winning NEXT SEASON. Now I'm not saying that a Geno Smith is a cure all, but look at teams like Indianapolis and Washington, who were able to cover up other team deficiencies with superb and sometimes daring QB play. Caldwell made a statement by firing Mularkey after only 1 season and has already cut a weak link in our offensive lines armor(by cutting Guy Whimper yesterday). I think he is ready and willing to make the call for Geno if he sees this as his future franchise QB. If I'm Bradley, coming from Seattle and their recent success with a rookie QB, I don't see how Bradley, and Caldwell, (and Khan) skip this opportunity. Its a NO BRAINER. This draft is riddled with LEOs...get a game changing QB! Rod' O Out!
