In the first hours of the new league year, news regarding the Jaguars and their outgoing free agents was very quiet; however, Pete Prisco of CBS Sports reported on Tuesday afternoon that defensive tackle Terrance Knighton en route to visit with the Denver Broncos. The Jaguars are "not out" of contention for retaining Knighton, though, according to Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union.

Knighton, 26, was a third round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft and was a full-time starter during Jack Del Rio's final three seasons as head coach of the Jaguars. After a tumultuous 2012 offseason, Knighton was never able to reclaim his full-time spot in the starting lineup ahead of C.J. Mosley. Per ProFootballFocus, Mosley was the best defensive player for the Jaguars in 2012 and Knighton was the fourth-best with a +4.2 grade.

In 2012, the Jaguars ranked as the No. 30 team against the run, although no team was run against more often. The Broncos allowed the third fewest rushing yards and the fewest touchdowns in the NFL.
