Mock Draft 1

Ive been waiting till now to make my mock draft but this is my first shot at what i hope the Jags do. This mock contains no trades.

Round 1- Pick#2

Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia

If this was 2011 people would do doubt consider him the hands down number 1 pick, however due to the success of the rookies quarterbacks last year, the standard has been raised. I believe he has the ability to be a solid pro bowl caliber starter in the NFL for the next decade. Currently we do not have that player on this team, but we get our quarterback for the next decade with this pick.

Round 2- Pick #1

Matt Elam, Safety, Florida

With this pick we get a solid Safety. He has the ability to play in the box, stop the run game, and cover receivers one on one. With this pick we become better in the secondary and we gain a leader of the defense for the foreseeable future.

Round 3- Pick #2

Terron Armstead, Offensive Tackle, Arkansas Pine Bluff

Becomes the right tackle for the next decade, quick feet allows him to be a player that immediately steps in and succeeds in the new zone blocking scheme.

Round 4- Pick # 1

Arthur Brown, Linebacker, Kansas State

Can Play weak side or strong side, quick feet means he can play cover linebacker or be a force in the run game. If we get Darryl smith back, this group could be a major strength of this young team.

Round 5- Pick #2

Stedman Bailey, Wide Receiver, West Virginia

Bailey was Geno Smith's Receiver in high school and college, he becomes a familiar face and a great third receiver if Blackmon or Shorts miss anytime. He's not quick enough for a slot guy, but by resigning Shipley we can go for depth with this pick.

Round 6- Pick #1

Mike Gillislee, Running Back, Florida

Very Durable and productive, great option to play behind MoJo. Can be a third down back, or just fresh legs.

Round 7, Pick #2

Ace Sanders, Wide Reciever / Return Man, South Carolina

Not much depth but gives us a bonafide threat as a return man, may develop into a quality back up o the roster.

This mock gives us quality starts and excellent depth, we become a better team with these picks. Let me Know your thoughts?
