Debunking the "LEO" DE Draft Pick Myth

So many fans have been corralled into this mythic "LEO" position being our 2nd over all draft pick. So much so that we are willing to spite all Football logic for the sake of attaining the coveted "LEO".

Some of these comments just make no sense at all such as "For every Jamarcus Russell there is a Jason Smith."(I'd Love to play this game.) and "Defensive End is clearly our biggest need."

Come on guys. Really!

Look at our roster. Scarily DE is and DT are our deepest and most talent laden positions.

So let's look at the Seattle LEO Chris Clemons.

First off let take note that he has been on 4 teams, was not a 16 game starter until he got to Seattle and he is now 31 years old.

Yeah lets draft him 2nd Overall

Hmm. Sounds alot like Jason Babin. Oh wait he is already on our team.

Ok so they drafted Bruce Irvin to be his successor.

We've got Andre Branch to succeed Babin.

Maybe some of the success of that should be attributed to the rest of the team. The Seahawks actually lead in football games putting other teams in passing situations that allow for sacks to happen. The ranked 10th against the run last year.

Our True Needs are

LB - If we had to play a game tomorrow we would start Poz, Russell Allen and Greg Jones. yes the other Greg Jones (Stop Laughing)

DB - If we had to play a game tomorrow we would start Mike Harris, William Middleton and Kevin Rutland. (hey it hurts my feelings when you laugh)

OL- If we had to play a game tomorrow we would start Eugene Monroe, Will Rackley(???), Mike Brewster, Uche and Cam Bradfield.

Look I understand the importance of getting to the QB in today's NFL but none of these guys really stand out above the other. There are some obvious standouts in the other position groups we have plenty of needs and the best football player, regardless of position, would be great for this team.
