As the Jags continue to reshape the roster, It's time to really go "ALL IN" and start to look at our most valuable commodities as trade bait (MJD).
Lets face it by the time this team is in the playoff hunt, MJD will be on the downside of his career.
To be honest the Jags should have already let it be known to other teams that he was available for the right price. Do you really think that a RB hungry team like the Lions would have chosen Reggie Bush over MJD?
I agree that MJD is a competitor and is a beast between the tackles but this is a major re-haul of the roster and MJD should be part of the cleansing process.
It's time to stop thinking with our hearts and make the tough decision to cut bait with MJD for maybe a 2nd round pick.
Another factor in the decision to trade MJD is he publicly alienated Shan Khan which is never a good thing to do to the man who writes the checks and although I believe Khan has given Caldwell total autonomy on roster decisions I can imagine a scenario in which the conversation was held " Dave I empower you to make the roster decisions HOWEVER based on my public stance on the MJD Hold out, I cant go back on that stance. I know it was Business but MJD failed to show the Jags the same loyalty that was shown to him when the team gave him an extension.
The only person MJD should have been pissed at for his contract situation was his agent for not adding incentives such as winning rushing title entitles him to void remaining years etc...
I realize Caldwell has call MJD part of the core, but I truly believe his days should be numbered.
I cant imagine letting him play out his contract and get nothing in return. I also cant imagine Gus placing a "C" on the Jersey of a disgruntled "Me first" player especially with what will be a very young roster
My First post so have at it but at least be tactful
