Follow along on the second day with the Round 2-3 live blog.
The 2013 NFL Draft is finally here and just about 12 hours away. As of right now the Jacksonville Jaguars pick second overall and hold a total of just seven picks in the draft. It's possible the Jaguars could gain more draft picks trading down and such, but so far all signs point to the Jaguars drafting a player with the second overall pick.
There has been a lot of talk about the Jaguars drafting offensive tackle Eric Fisher with the second overall pick to play right tackle, but there has also been speculation the Kansas City Chiefs might take him first overall in lieu of Luke Joeckel. It's hard to say what the Jaguars will do however, because up until this week there hasn't been a consensus pick and they've played everything so close to the vest.
As of this live blog going... live, I still think the pick is a pass rusher and not a right tackle, but that's because I have a tough time drafting a right tackle second overall. Me, Adam, and JPon will be hitting any rumors or updates we see throughout the day, so go ahead and bookmark refresh.
Live blog:
10:46 PM: Not that it's entirely unexpected, but our own Alfie Crow reports that the Jaguars have already begun the process of shopping the No. 33 pick with the intention of moving down.
10:11 PM: The Jaguars were going right tackle all the way, according to Dave Caldwell, who told Mark Long of the Associated Press that they would have selected Eric Fisher if he was available. However, Joeckel was the team's top-rated player on the board.
9:41 PM: If there was any question about a competition between Eugene Monroe and Luke Joeckel, Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida TImes-Union reports that head coach Gus Bradley called Monroe to reconfirm that he is still the team's left tackle.
9:38 PM: The Jaguars have no intention to take a quarterback with the No. 33 selection, according to Mark Long of the Associated Press. They instead plan to find "definitive" starters with their early picks, which would suggest they intend to target a defensive back.

4:42 PM: Just for giggles, here's the first mock draft database that we published this year. Bjoern Werner, Damontre Moore, Sheldon Richardson, Star Lotulelei, Barkevious Mingo and Jarvis Jones were all pegged to the Jaguars. Six players were projected to the Jaguars in the final database as well, but they were six different players altogether.
4:18 PM: Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Chiefs have informed Texas A&M offensive tackle Luke Joeckel that they will not be selecting him with the first overall pick and that it will be Central Michigan's Eric Fisher instead.
1:56 PM: Word is now that if the Miami Dolphins trade up in the draft it will be either for Luke Joeckel or Dion Jordan, both of which could go either first or second overall. Maybe a partner in the works for the Jaguars if they wish to trade down?
1:21 PM: The new mock draft database is out and the majority of people still have the Jaguars drafting Dion Jordan, with Joeckel, Fisher, and Ansah bringing up the rear.
1:08 PM: I don't really know much about this guy, but he did peg that the Rams would draft Michael Brockers and the Panthers would draft Luke Kuechly, so.... the Jaguars are picking Ziggy Ansah I guess!
Talking to source who confirms that Ansah will be the pick to Jacksonville at No. 2 overall.

12:11 PM: We've speculated earlier that the Jaguars could trade the second pick, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport doesn't think that's the case. He tweeted that the Raiders are getting a "ton of calls" for the third pick, while he hears that the Jaguars are more interested in holding on to the second pick for themselves.
11:50 AM: It took until draft day and less than nine hours before they officially go on the clock, but the Chiefs say they now have decided which player they plan on selecting with the No. 1 overall pick. Of course, they didn't spoil the surprise and they said that they plan on continuing to field trade calls, but it's likely safe to say that they have decided that either Luke Joeckel or Eric Fisher will be the first player off the board.
11:06 AM: Just a quick note, the Bold City Brigade website has officially launched. You can now join the Jaguars supporters group ONLINE. It has all their information, from the BCB section to also their pre-game festivities and offseason events. Check it out.
10:37 AM: The Dolphins and Chiefs are resuming trade talks for OT Branden Albert Thursday, which could have somewhat of an effect on how the draft plays out for the Jaguars. If Albert is traded to Miami, it not only removes a potential trade partner for the No. 2 pick, but it also essentially guarantees the Chiefs draft an offensive tackle. That gives the Jaguars either the offensive tackle that the Chiefs didn't pick, or makes a team antsy to move up for the No. 2 tackle off the board. It's worth paying attention to, from a Jaguars angle.
9:35 AM: Here is the actual video the Jaguars showed at their press conference when they revealed the new uniform on Tuesday. Gives a little insight into how the uniforms were designed.
9:13 AM: There is some more buzz that teams are looking to move up in the draft, notably the Miami Dolphins and the San Diego Chargers, both of which need left tackles.

8:41 AM: Our own Matthew Fairburn has his final mock draft up on Mocking The Draft and he has the Jaguars picking BYU DE Ezekiel Ansah, which has become a very popular pick for the Jaguars this week, despite all the talk of an offensive tackle. Dan Kadar on the other hand has the Jaguars taking Luke Joeckel, as Eric Fisher goes first overall to the Chiefs.
Round | Pick | Overall |
First | 2 | 2 |
Second | 1 | 33 |
Third | 2 | 64 |
Fourth | 1 | 98 |
Fifth | 2 | 135 |
Sixth | 1 | 169 |
Seventh | 2 | 208 |
8:23 AM: There's a bit more belief that the interest in Eric Fisher and Luke Joeckel is a smokescreen as Jaguars beat writer Ryan O'Halloran still has the team drafting a pass rusher in his mock draft published this morning.
8:00 AM: Well, well, well... now it comes out the Jaguars are fielding calls about the second overall pick from teams who are looking for one of the top offensive lineman. Who saw that one coming?
