I wrote an article the other day advocating for the Jaguars to address the RT position in a later portion of the draft. However, per my luck and most other Jaguars fans, David Caldwell decided to pull the trigger on Texas A&M Offensive Tackle, Luke Joeckel.
Of course I am not a fan of this move because if they are implementing a ZBS, then there is no value in selecting a RT this high. I understand the Jaguars wanted to stay true to their evaluations and big board, but I did not imagine this happening. WIth that being said, Luke Joeckel is a damn good football player. He will be a valuable asset to our offensive line.
I'm starting to warm up to this pick, but you can never convince me a RT was the right move. In addition, please stop the comparisons to Tony Boselli. I saw pictures on twitter and facebook of the similarities between the two. They look the same, so what? Joeckel needs to prove he is a good RT. Boselli was a beast and more importantly he was a LT. People compared Andre Branch to Tony Brackens last season and how did that turn out?
Let's slow down on all of these comparisons, please. I am a HUGE fan of Eugene Monroe. He should be our Tony Boselli since he has proved his worth. Let's hope Luke Joeckel lives up to his hype and becomes an elite OT. That's all we can do as fans, right?
