The Best Make-Believe Jaguars Draft Ever - 1st Round

I'm sure all Jaguars Fans are hoping for the best draft class in a while. Let's face it, recent drafts have been less than great.

What would it take to make this year's class qualify as the best ever?

Thinking along these lines caused me to dream a little.

What if the Jaguars could magically draft any player they've ever selected from each round of the draft for this year's team?

Let's start with round one. Here are the 20 1st-round picks the Jaguars have selected in their history:

Tony Boselli

James Stewart

Kevin Hardy

Renaldo Wynn

Fred Taylor

Donovin Darius

Fernando Bryant

R. Jay Soward

Marcus Stroud

John Henderson

Byron Leftwich

Reggie Williams

Matt Jones

Marcedes Lewis

Reggie Nelson

Derrick Harvey

Eugene Monroe

Tyson Alualu

Blaine Gabbert

Justin Blackmon

Now, let's take out the players that are already on the 2013 roster: Blackmon, Gabbert, Alualu, Monroe, and Lewis. We won't re-draft them.

That leaves 15 players to choose from and really the decision isn't that tough. Stroud and Henderson were good picks, but Boselli and Taylor are in a class of their own.

As for the case for Stroud and Henderson, DT has been addressed a bit in free agency this year with the signings of Roy Miller and Sen' Derrick Marks.

So if the Jaguars had a choice of Boselli or Taylor this season, who should they pick?

Boselli may be one of the best left tackles to ever play the game. However, the Jaguars have a young LT in Eugene Monroe who is a good player. Would it be worth replacing him?

Taylor had a combination of size and speed that is rare at the position. However, the RB position is less important than ever in today's NFL.

As much as I think Boselli may be the most impressive at his position, I think I'd be good with staying with Monroe and adding Taylor's play-making ability to this year's squad, especially with Maurice Jones-Drew being in the last year of his contract.

When round one is settled, I'll move on to round two.
